Nowadays data backup is more important because you don’t know when your Hard drive will corrupt or damage. And if once your data will be lost it would be very costly to recover and maybe you don’t get your complete data after recovery. Till now people used think that it won’t happen to them. nowadays users stores financial data, Personal data like marriage photographs etc. it’s unsafe to live without backups.
There are many ways to keep data safe by this disasters. If you want to store a backup in external hard drive it will cost you less than 100$. But if you don’t like that option then another option is that you can back up your data in the cloud. Cloud services like Dropbox which offers a free account to sign up that gives you limited space to store data, and if you want to get more storage in the drop box, pay option is also available which give you more space. Just be alert that any online storage service is never truly secure. Chance of getting being hacked is always there, So you may not want to store sensitive data in online services. You can also store your data on CD, DVD, and thumb drives but it would not be large enough to back up your Complete Hard drive, But you can store some of your important data.
Redundancy is a must thing
You have to keep multiples copies of your data in different places. For example, If you are using an external hard drive to store backup and you keeping that in your office, then put another copy of your data in the clouds or anywhere else which is safe for your data. because of these, you will relax that if your first copy will lose, damage or corrupt, You’ll still have another copy which you can access anytime.
Always keep your data copies Synchronised
Try to keep your data updated in each copy of your backup, For an example, if you have one copy of data at home and another at the office. The house copy is updated twice a week and office copy is updated twice a year. In this type of situation, if your computer drive and your house external drive fails at the same time, You have another copy at your office but it’s not updated. in cases like this always keep your copies updated on both sides.
