Why do I need an Antivirus when I don’t surf the web carelessly?
While talking about antivirus programs many people would say that they don’t need anything like that! Because they think that they are so called “careful”. But do you really think you are? Use some common sense and take benefit from an antivirus program because it matters!
When you think that an antivirus program is just not useful then you might be wrong. In today’s world where zero-day weaknesses are found and sold to the most dangerous crimes, the most cautious users get affected easily.
Be Smart and think again on how a malware works.
You might be thinking that “I don’t download any distrustful files or go to such websites so I am secured!” If you are thinking that you are just safe by that then you are wrong, yes it’s the best way to get a malware but not the only way. One can get infected by other mediums too.
Saying it differently, you can get infected by just visiting a website you trust or a genuine one. Anybody can just hijack a website and put malware into it for you to visit and that’s something very common nowadays.
Why shouldn’t you use an antivirus?
We have heard people telling that an antivirus program is just too heavy in the memory or just takes a lot of space. It is partly true because of the older versions or MacAfee and Norton antivirus suites. They were slow and very bulky on a system which would slow down your system more than an actual virus would do.
Some programs today would cause problems too as they are filled with a lot of adware and notifications about upgrading to better security and purchasing more costly programs.
Although, today things are better as computers and hardware have become so fast that an antivirus program cannot slow it down anymore. Today we recommend an antivirus built in windows- Windows Defender. It’s lighter on memory and it doesn’t include any ads or junk ware too.
Note: Windows 7 doesn’t come with Windows Defender but you can always install the Microsoft Security Essentials.
Simply, windows defender won’t demand any hassle in windows as its part of windows itself.
Precaution is always better than cure anyway!
Basically, an antivirus is only last layer of security and no antivirus program can protect you from all threats. An antivirus would scan and show no malware or viruses but if you don’t play safe then it can lead you to a next big victim of malware attack even with an active antivirus.
Always be cautious about the websites you visit and files you download. Sometimes installing a single software may look safe but might be compiled with all other viruses and background scripts which can harm your computer real bad. Remove weak software such as JAVA as it can be compromised easily. Don’t stop believing in your antivirus by disabling it carelessly. A small step towards a browser plugin or a zero-day in your browser can lead malware straight into your PC.
Always Be Safe!
Malware is usually made for big organized crime to steal important financial information and all other confidential data. An anti-virus program will always keep you a little bit ahead and aware of such things, and it’s always important to have an active antivirus.
In the end, one must be careful about viruses. always use an active antivirus program. consult a virus removal expert for advice. if you are infected with viruses and can’t get rid of it then contact a good computer repair services.
